Run by a team of volunteers, we can help you experience the outdoors and develop your personal skills by taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme.
The Open Group
The Southend Duke of Edinburgh Open Group was set up around 2008 for young people in the area, who couldn’t get a place within the award at their schools. Since the formation of the group, we have seen many young people achieve their bronze, silver and gold awards.
We are run by a team of experienced voluntary leaders who are all qualified to run, train and assess different sections of the award.
The Team
The Southend Duke of Edinburgh Award Open Group relies on the commitment and good will of its volunteers. All leaders are unpaid, and volunteer their own time to ensure the young people have this opportunity.
